Vietnam Nears USD8 Billion Boeing Deal
This major aviation deal is expected to be finalized in conjunction with previously arranged commitments to acquire USD2.9 billion worth of American agricultural goods, the joint statement notes.
The Southeast Asian nation appears ready to advance on this long-anticipated purchase.
Back in September 2023, Vietnam Airlines reached a USD7.8 billion deal with Boeing.
This agreement was announced following a diplomatic meeting in Hanoi between former US President Joe Biden and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The latest developments coincided with another announcement on the same day: US President Donald Trump revealed a trade pact with Hanoi after engaging in talks with Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary To Lam.
Trump hailed the arrangement on Truth Social as a "Great Deal of Cooperation between our two Countries."
According to the draft statement, both governments intend to continue their efforts to finalize the agreement "within the coming weeks."
As of now, Boeing has not issued an immediate response to Anadolu's inquiry for confirmation.
